Putts Corner Caravan Club Site, Sidbury, Sidmouth, EX10 0QQ

Pitched up just on the opposite side of the children's play area was none other than Vanessa Feltz. She helped us level the van, as the pitches were slightly sloping. Like us she was using this site as a means to break up the journey back from Cornwall. She was extremely helpful, even looking under the bonnet for me, when I expressed concerns about the poor towing performance of the mondeo on the way back from St. Ives, especially how it had struggled on the two mile climb to this site, never leaving second gear. Vanessa, if you are reading this, your diagnosis wasn't wrong, and since your advice I have changed the throttle cable, as it had indeed stretched. Here she is dolled up and ready to take the three minute walk through the woods to the nearest pub, The Hare and Hounds, where she planned to use her discount for Caravan Club members visiting the site. Bonne appetite, Vanessa!

Guess who I bumped into in the pot wash facility? Ozzie told me he was a regular to this site, as he enjoyed the peace and tranquility it offered. Sidmouth was also Jack and Kelly's favourite UK seaside resort, so he didn't mind the five mile drive to the beach. However, his wife Sharon said she really enjoyed just lounging around the caravan, or even playing boules on the site's boule court. This was their fifth summer on the site, the last four of which they have spent with their good friends...
Geoffrey Hayes, Zippy, George and Bungle. Ever since Rainbow was axed Geoffrey and company have spent their retirement touring the British Isles in their Ace Ambassador, but returning each year to spend a week with the Osbournes at Sidmouth, before moving on to Western Super Mare to spend a week with Rod, Jane and Freddy. They also loved the secluded aspect of this site, an oasis of calm, which Geoffrey said was just the tonic they needed after the jetsetting, rock and roll lifestyle they had lived previously. He also added that the toilets were immaculate too.

Our final guests before we left the site to continue our journey north was Jonathan Ross and his wife. He told me that this was his first visit on a caravan club site, and he was most impressed with the facilities. I thought that Sidmouth was a lovely place for a day or two, but I personally thought that I would struggle for any longer as I like things a little livelier. However, if you really enjoy getting a way from it all, like Jonathan, the Osbournes and the cast of Rainbow, this site is for you.
