We could hear her before we saw her, the beautiful Jade Goody, was our first guest at Pipers Height Campsite, Blackpool. Like us she was having a short family holiday, enjoying the pleasures of Blackpool and intending to tour the illuminations. She had sensibly invested the money she has made since Big Brother in purchasing a Lunar Chateau 430.

"This continental style tourer combines a contemporary interior styling with light weight and amazing value!" she told me. She certainly seemed to enjoy her new hobby of caravanning, as did her boyfriend Jeff, young baby and her charming mother Jackie, who was accompanying them. She had chosen this site because its nightly fees were not extortionate, like some others around. She also told us that the site club was also very child friendly, though most nights she could be seen inside her caravan, maybe enjoying a kebab, or playing cards with her partner. Not strip poker though, I hope, I'm still having nightmares after watching her adult antics on Big Brother!

Our next visitor was the charismatic Desmond Tutu. He was quite disappointed as he usually tries to book the excellent, Blackpool South Caravan Club site for illumination week, but he had left it too late this year and the site was fully booked. However, he was quite happy with this site, as it is located quite close to the caravan club site, and though the pitches are smaller and not as nicely set out as the cc site, the sites clubhouse with it's nightly entertainment were recompense. Desmond is also a great fan of the Thwaites bitters that the clubhouse serves, so he was in his element. He is pictured here, after sampling a few pints, and quite alarmingly, having a good laugh poking fun at the strange blue camping device pitched to the right of the photo. I was quite disturbed at his hilarity, what with him being a man of the cloth, I would have thought he would have been of the opinion that all men's tourers are equal!

Also staying on the site was Andrew Lloyd Webber. He got his pitch free as for the last few years he has been performing as caberet one night a week in the clubhouse. He did a magical turn, singing songs from his musicals, but also weaving in a few more modern numbers, such as hits from boyband Busted. His version of "That's What I Go to School For" was particularly splendid. He even called the Bingo in the interval. What a star!

Our final guest was the bubbly Christine Hamilton. She was holidaying alone, leaving Neil at home. But she is an extremely competent caravanner, and she had the caravan off her Sierra estate with ease, and single handedly pushed it onto her pitch, refusing any help that was offered. Here she is enjoying a homemade cocktail, after she had popped to the nearby Morrisons Superstore to purchase her supplies. It's made from a bottle of Lambrini with a splash of pineapple juice, she told me, tastes just like a Castaway, but is a fraction of the cost. And you've got to watch the pennies when you're in Blackpool she went on, as rides at the Pleasure Beach, entrance to the Tower, and visting Blackpool Zoo can be a dear do! Christine, like us didn't make use of the sites facilities that week. Though when I did pay the odd visit, they were spotless, I preferred to shower in the warmth of the caravan, than trek across a windy muddy field on a cold late October morning!
